Every title is cited
The list is not a blog roundup. It is 120 titles pulled from our database of what US schools actually assign, grouped under the 8 lists that name them:
- Nebraska Golden Sower Award
- Garden State Children's Book Award
- California Young Reader Medal
- Mountain Laurel Book Award (Pennsylvania)
- Oklahoma Sequoyah Children's Book Award
- South Carolina Children's Book Award
- Young Hoosier Book Award
- Hawai'i Nēnē Award
A grade citation records that a book is taughtat that grade. It is not a content rating — themes and content notes for each title are on the book’s own page.
Questions
- Who is this for?
- Parents of 3rd grade students and 3rd grade teachers — anyone who has to keep a reading log for the year and would rather not rule up a notebook. It suits a homeschool year just as well.
- Where do the books come from?
- The 120 titles are the most widely assigned 3rd grade books in our database of US school reading lists, drawn from state department-of-education curriculum guides, Common Core Appendix B exemplars and statewide children’s-choice book awards. Each one is cited on the site to the document it came from. You can check the whole list free at readinglist.school/grade/3.
- Can I print it more than once?
- Yes. The licence covers personal and single-classroom use — print it as often as you need for your own child or your own class. It does not cover reselling it, posting the file publicly, or school-wide or district-wide distribution; a school licence covers those.
- Letter or A4?
- Both, in one download. Two files (22 pages on Letter, 21 on A4), laid out for the paper rather than scaled to it.
- Is there a refund?
- Yes — email us within 30 days and we refund it, no questions. It is a PDF; we would rather you had your money back than a file you did not want.
- What is not in it?
- Book covers (we do not licence cover art), summaries, and reading levels for titles where we hold none. Nothing in the kit is AI-written, and there are no ads or shopping links in the PDF.
