What we publish

The summaries, guides, grade and state pages, and editorial notes on this site are written by us. The underlying reference data — which books appear on which school reading lists — consists of facts: a citation that a named curriculum, district or examination board lists a given title. Facts are not copyrightable, and we cite the source for each one.

Book metadata (title, author, publication year, reading level, page count) is likewise factual. Where we quote from a work, we quote briefly, attribute the source, and surround the quotation with our own commentary — the fair-use pattern used by reviews and study guides. We do not reproduce chapters, long passages, poems or lyrics.

Cover images

Where a cover image appears next to a purchase link, it is used to identify the edition being linked — the standard nominative use that accompanies a retail referral. We source cover images from the retail programme’s own assets or from openly licensed catalogues, and we match them to the specific edition. If you believe an image on this site is used without the right to do so, tell us and we will remove it.

Notice and takedown — how to reach us

If you own rights in material published on ReadingList and believe it is used without permission, please contact us through our contact page and include:

• the URL or URLs on this site where the material appears;
• a description of the work you believe has been infringed, enough for us to identify it;
• a statement of your relationship to the work (rights holder, or authorised to act on their behalf);
• a way for us to reply to you.

We aim to review every notice promptly and will remove or amend material where the claim is well founded. You do not need to send a formal legal notice for us to act — a clear description is enough. If we disagree, we will say so and explain why, rather than simply ignoring the request.

Using our material

You are welcome to link to any page on this site, and to quote briefly from our writing with attribution and a link back. Republishing our pages wholesale, or scraping the site to reconstruct its reference data elsewhere, is not permitted.

Corrections

Copyright aside, if a fact on this site is wrong — a misattributed title, an incorrect reading level, a book listed under a curriculum that does not use it — we want to know. Accuracy is the point of the site. Use the same contact page.
