Privacy policy
Last updated: April 16, 2026
Summary
ReadingList is a public reference site. We do not require accounts, do not sell data, and collect only the minimum needed to run the site and show ads once we’re approved. If you disagree with anything below, don’t use the site — your presence here means you’ve read and accepted this policy.
What we collect — and don’t
- Page analytics — we use Plausible or Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. Neither sets tracking cookies and neither records personal information. We see aggregate page hit counts, referrers, and country-level geography; nothing individually identifying.
- Advertising— once we are approved for Google AdSense (and later Mediavine/Raptive), ads will be served on article pages. Those networks may set their own cookies per their own privacy policies. Your choice to accept personalized ads is handled via Google’s standard consent banner where required by law.
- No accounts, no logins. We do not have registration, passwords, email capture, newsletters, or profiles. There is nothing to opt into.
- No data collection from children. This site is aimed at adults (parents, teachers, homeschoolers, librarians) researching children’s reading. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under 13. If you believe we’ve received data from a minor, contact us (below) and we will delete it.
Cookies
The site itself sets no tracking cookies. After AdSense approval, Google may set cookies for personalized or non-personalized ads. You can control this via your browser settings or at Google Ad Settings. California residents can use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link (coming once AdSense is active) to opt out of personalized ads.
Third-party services
- Vercel — hosts the site and may log HTTP requests per their privacy policy.
- Neon — hosts the reading-list database.
- Open Library — serves book cover images referenced on book pages.
- Plausible or Vercel Web Analytics — serves page analytics. Both are cookie-free.
- Google AdSense— once approved, will serve ads. Subject to Google’s policies.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, most GDPR / CCPA access rights do not apply — there is nothing in your name for us to export or delete. Ad-personalization opt-out is handled via the ad-network controls linked above.
Changes to this policy
When the site changes materially — for example, if we add a newsletter or ad partner — this page will be updated and the “Last updated” date bumped. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
